KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar said on Thursday that Sindh Health Department had taken effective measures to control Dengue Virus and Malaria in the city and very soon spray will be carried out in 16 big drains and 600 small drains again.
This he said while talking to various delegations here in his office. He said that the measures taken by the Health Department were not confined only to statements but practical steps were being taken and all the government hospitals had been directed to maintain high standard of cleanliness in their premises. Provincial Health Minister added Sindh Health Department was fully aware of its responsibilities and there was dire need to appreciate positive steps of the department and not to criticize only. He said that being a health minister, he himself sprayed in drains to eradicate dengue virus and malaria.
Dahar has also taken serious notice of death of a mother and her child in Civil Hospital Hyderabad, and directed the hospital’s MS Dr Khalid Qureshi to look into the matter, conduct an inquiry into the incident and take appropriate steps against the gynecologist who showed negligence.
The minister assured the office-bearers of Pakistan Paramedical Staff Association that an impartial inquiry would be conducted into the matter and the responsible person would be brought to justice.
