Karachi: The Department of Mass Communication, Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) in partnership with the US Consulate General Karachi is organizing its fifth international conference on “Sindhi Media: Importance, Opportunities and Challenges” on April 7 at local hotel.
The conference will be inaugurated by Vice Chancellor FUUAST Prof Dr Zafar Iqbal, while Prof Mazhar ul Haq Siddiqui will grace the inaugural session as chief guest. Other speakers include Dr Naheed Abrar, Prof Dr Seemi Naghmana Tahir, and Dr Tauseef Ahmed Khan.
The Sindhi Media Conference will include four academic sessions along with inaugural and concluding sessions. The first session will moot on the impacts of Sindhi media on society and will be presided over by renowned columnist Amar Jaleel and Dr Riaz Shaikh. Senior Script Writer Noorul Huda Shah, Prof Fateh Muhammad Burfat and Muqtida Mansoor will address the session.
Second session of the conference will discuss the challenges facing Sindhi print media today. The session would be presided over by senior Sindhi journalist Suhail Sangi and speakers include Dr Jabbar Khatak, Imtiaz Faran, Dr Badar Soomro, Muhammad Khan Solangi and Aslam Khuwaja.
The third session of the conference will discuss the trends in Sindhi electronic media. Director Benazir Bhutto Chair University of Karachi Prof Shahida Kazi will preside over the session and speakers include Prof Rizwana Chang, Dr Ayub Sheikh, Ahmed Raza, Hassan Mansoor and Fayaz Naich.
The fourth working session would highlight the dynamics of Sindhi media in global context, Sindhi journalist India Nandita Bhawnani would preside over the session and will be addressed by Amar Sindhu and Mazhar Abbass.
