Gabol terms PPO against basic human rights

KARACHI: Coordinator to Chief Minister Sindh on Human Rights, Nadia Gabol on Wednesday criticized Protection of Pakistan Ordinance (PPO), which was passed by the National Assembly on Monday.

Talking to PPI, Nadia Gabol said that some sections in the PPO were against basic human rights and the treasury benches passed it in a rush from the national assembly without consulting other political groups.

She termed the PPO as a black law and said that this bill would give excessive powers to the law enforcement authorities. “Government could use this law against its opponents while police could use it as tool to harass common people,” she said.
