KARACHI: Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan on Sunday visited the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azim Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, and laid a wreath on it.
He wrote his impressions in guest book and later inaugurated spring tree plantation campaign by planting a tree in the premises of the mausoleum. Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, provincial ministers and MPAs were also present on the occasion.
Later, the governor and the chief minister jointly inaugurated renovation project of Empress Market Sadar and its surrounding areas. Senior Sindh Minister for Education Nisar Ahmad Khuhro, MPAs Rauf Siddiqi, Awais Muzaffar, Sharmila Farooqui, Acting Inspector General(IG) Sindh Police Iqbal Mehmood, Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhtar Siddiqui and other officials were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Sindh said that resources had been provided to speed up work on renovation project of Express Market and other parts of Saddar.
He said that in initial phase, Rs 61 million had been released from Governor Development Fund and after completion of first phase, more funds would be leased for the project so that it could be completed quickly.
