KARACHI: Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad on Monday directed Director General (DG) Rangers Major General Rizwan Akhter to beef up security in the city in order to avoid any backlash from the actions taken against extremist elements across the country.
During a meeting at Governor House on Monday, DG Rangers briefed Governor Sindh regarding targeted action and other efforts taken for the security and safety of citizens in the province including Karachi.
The governor directed him to made targeted operations more effective in order to tighten grip on the criminal elements.
He said that a Grievances Redressal Committee was formed by the prime minister to oversight complaints regarding ongoing targeted operation. The committee has representation from all quarters and its first session is convened on Saturday.
The governor said that effective intelligence system was necessary to bust criminal rings and steps should be taken to bust terror groups.
He said that strict measures were taken on federal level to stop usage of illegal SIMS in the province. “It is necessary for Rangers and police to increase patrolling in areas where crime rate is high in order to raise confidence among common citizens,” he said.
