KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said the trauma centre, under construction in Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) will be completed by 4th June and after completion it will cater the needs of not only Karachi but other cities of Sindh also.
This, he said while talking to media during his visit to the CHK on Monday. He expressed his displeasure over slow work pace at Trauma Centre.
Besides this, addressing as a chief guest in a symposium on Radiation Hazards and Protection, organized by Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection Committee (NSRC), Civil Hospital Karachi, he said that even in industrial countries, most radiation exposure linked to civilization is from medical diagnosis and they felt that the medical radiation exposure of the general population and relevant reference groups should be regularly determined.
Dahar said Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection Committee had been formed under the supervision of medical superintendent, realizing the fact that there is growing use of radiation in medical technology for diagnosis and therapic purpose.
He said the purpose of formation of Committee should be to encourage and promote the active involvement of employers and workers’ organization in the development of international standards on occupational radiation protection.
Professor Saeed Qureshi MSCHK, Professor Khalida Soomro and Professor Saba Sohail also spoke.
