Karachi: The training camp of national senior probables preparing for participation in upcoming international events will resume at National Hockey Stadium in Lahore instead of Hockey Stadium Johar Town from April 12, 2015.
Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) last week abruptly suspended the camp apparently for lack of funds. The federation had said that it was unable to pay daily allowance to players as the government had not disbursed grants.
However, after a meeting with top government officials the federation would resume the camp.
“PHF is highly indebted to Mian Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif, honourable Chief Minister Punjab, Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan, Sports Minister Punjab and Usman Anwar, Director General, Sports Board Punjab for their kind favour, support and act of kindness for the establishment of national training camp,” a PHF release said.
PHF has directed all the camp trainees and team officials to report to Shahnaz Sheikh, Manager and Head Coach on April 12.
The green shirts would be featuring in the 4-Nation Hockey Tournament in Hobart (Tasmania) from May 2 to 10. The team would also play a test-match series against Korea in Incheon from May 16 to 25.
Most importantly, the green-shirts would participate in FIH Hockey World League semifinals in Antwerp (Belgium) from June 20 to July 5.
