IG directs to beef up banks’ security

KARACHI: Inspector General Police Sindh Iqbal Mehmood directed a high-level meeting on law and order that investigation of cases should be carried out to a logical way, specially paying attention to the departments of investigation and prosecution.

He said that field units and investigation units should work with mutual cooperation, while, SHOs after registration of case should fully cooperate with investigation officers until detection process completes, warning that negligence would not be tolerated.

“Crime scenes should be made secure in every situation so that no evidence go wasted, while for the effective investigation of cases expert and qualified officers should be selected,” he said.

Mehmood further said that all the necessary developments should be performed under regular strategy and planning to improve the performance of specialized units.

He directed that work should be done as a team under proactive policing for apprehension of the elements involved in criminal activities. He said SHOs should keep an eye on entrance and exit routes in their areas.

He, putting responsibilities on SHOs to visit bank branches in their areas, directed to beef up the security of banks and also report possible weaknesses in their security.
