KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindhi Iqbal Mehmood on Tuesday directed police officials to revive 15 Madadgar-15 centers and establish 15 more centers at different parts of the city.
This was ordered during a meeting chaired by IG Sindh at his office. It was attended by Deputy Inspector General (DIGs) from Finance, Headquarters and Establishment departments and Additional Inspectors General from Admin, Logistics, Operations, State and Management and other departments.
AIG Admin informed IG Sindh that a team led by him visited old Madadgar 15 centers and scrutinized their current situation.
Giving details regarding the conditions of old Madadgar buildings, AIG said that two buildings were ready to be used while the other 13 needed renovation and construction. “14 mobile vans, 60 motorcycles, and 86 wireless sets were being used when these building were used as Madadgar offices and now these items were used in by different district police offices,” he said.
The IG Sindh directed him to bring all Madadgar items to their disposal within a week while the buildings should also be revived as early as possible.
Mehmood directed that out of 100 bikes, 10 bikes should be given to Madadgar centre in SITE.
He said that five spots were chosen for new Madadgar 15 centers in each zone and directed DIG Headquarters Sindh that each center would get logistic support from Central Police Office while manpower would be given by Karachi police.
The IG Sindh said that 15 new centers would get 15 mobile vans, 60 motorcycles and other essential material.
Mehmood said that all Madadgar centers would be connected with main Madagar center in CPO while they would also remain in touch with police stations wireless in order to swiftlyly respond against any criminal activity.
