KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Ghulam Haider Jamali on Wednesday directed officials concerned to ensure better security arrangements for Hindus’ festivity of Diwali. He ordered officials to ensure better security arrangements at police range, district and zone levels during three-day festival of Diwali and for the participants and other special guests in religious gatherings, particularly on Lakshmi Puja Day.
Jamali issued these directives with the reference of Hindu Community’s Diwali festival to be held in Pakistan.
All district police officials are already directed to accelerate police patrolling, picketing, snap checking and keep an eye on Hindu temples at their areas so as to avoid any untoward incident.
He asked officials to boost up their information sharing system with other law enforcement agencies to achieve 100 percent targets of better security.
Meanwhile, it was requested to general public if they see any suspected person or thing near Hindu temples in any areas, they must inform police helpline so that the police could take action in the time, said police spokesman in a statement.
