Karachi: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Iqbal Mehmood on Friday reviewed law and order situation and police performance in province, especially ongoing targeted operation against criminals in Karachi.
Presiding over a high level meeting in Central Police Office Karachi, IGP emphasized the importance of relation between police and law enforcement agencies and directed officials to ensure action on reports received from intelligence agencies. He also said that extraordinary measures should be taken to protectcitizens’ lives and properties.
Mehmood reviewed ongoing Karachi targeted operation and said that police should investigate the cases of arrested criminals on modern techniques and also take help of forensic science in resolving the cases.
IGP reviewed the performance of police special cells, including Special Investigation Unit (SIU), Anti Car Lifting Cell (ACLC), Anti Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) and instructed officials to make extraordinary measures for stopping kidnapping for ransom, snatching of vehicles and other criminal activities.
He directed official to point out black-sheep in police department and take legal action against them. He said that negligence and carelessness in duties would not be tolerated.
IGP also reviewed performance of traffic police and its system. He directed DIG Traffic Arif Hanif to boost contacts with relevant departments for improving traffic system.
