IGP visits CPLC, reviews performance


KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Iqbal Mehmood along with other police officers visited Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) office here on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that Neighbourhood Care Program should be expanded in other residential and commercial areas of the City.

IGP said that Neighbourhood Care Program was a continuation of community policing initiatives which was aimed at restoring public confidence in police, developing better relationships with the community and ensuring effective monitoring process.

He said that ideology of community policing was the necessity of modern age for controlling crimes and social inequalities.

Mehmood said that the main aim of this program was to help and collaborate with social community so as to control crimes.

During his visit, IGP reviewed CPLC crime record data and compared it with the Karachi police report.

He ordered police officials to make possible efforts to restore Neighbourhood Care Program in Defense Housing Authorities areas and Clifton with the help of society consultation.
