JI asks govt to respect peaceful protests

Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Sindh chapter secretary general Mumtaz Hussain Sahito has advised the government to respect peaceful protests and stop crushing political dissent with brutal force.

He said police torture on peaceful protestors in Islamabad and arrest and manhandling of Amina Masood Januja was highly condemnable act. He said this is a shame for any elected democratic government worth its salt. He said peaceful protest is a legal and constitutional right of every citizen.

He demanded stopping such incidents in future and accepting just demands of human rights activists who are raising voice for recovery of the missing persons.
