JI blames KE, KWSB for water crisis

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chapter Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman here Thursday said the prevailing water crises is the result of a sheer negligence of K-Electric (KE) and Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB).

He said the KWSB and K-Electric should resolve their matters amicably, and not punish hapless Karachiites for their criminal negligence. He said the citizens of Karachi have been braving a tremendous mental agony due to dual curse of water shortage and electricity load-shedding.

Expressing concern over non-stopping load-shedding and water scarcity in the city in this scorching summer season, Hafiz Naeem said that the PPPP and MQM are equally responsible of the prevailing crises. He said the people of Karachi are deprived of their basic rights due to rampant corruption, and the absence of proper local bodies system.

“On one hand, the KWSB’s water distribution process is not transparent while on the other hand, continues load-shedding by K-Electric has increased the vows of the masses”, he added.

Hafiz Naeem further said that the people are deprived of basic necessity like water while the illegal water hydrants are openly selling water to the citizens at high rates.

He feared that law and order issue could result due to water shortage, if timely actions were not taken to resolve this burning issue.

He demanded of the government to take immediate action to resolve the water shortage issue so that the masses could heave a sigh of relief in this hot summer.
