KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chapter Chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has expressed his concern over 10-12 hours announced and unannounced load-shedding by K-Electric (KE) with the arrival of summer and condemned this mental torture to Karachiites.
He said that load-shedding of long duration has made people physically and mentally agitated. “It is very regrettable that there is load-shedding even on Sundays in many areas of the city including Golimar, Gulbahar, Orangi Town and Baldia Town. If this is the situation of load-shedding just at the start of summer than what would happen in Karachi during June & July,” he asked.
He said that the citizens of Karachi have been protesting for a long time but it was a pity that KE and the government did not bother to take action even after the protests.
“Routine life and business activities are badly being affected due to load-shedding while inflated bills are being sent by KE but there is no plan on the cards to get rid of the power shortage,” he said.
Naeem said that people were forced to come out and protest on roads and burn tires, which will create law and order situation in the city. Load-shedding is also causing shortage of water in many areas of the city, he regretted.
He demanded that KE should immediately stop unannounced load-shedding and ensure uninterruptable provision of electricity to Karachi.
