Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has demanded to pay outstanding salaries of past five months to the employees of Pakistan Steel Mills to save their families from hunger.
JI Sindh chapter amir Dr Merajul Huda Siddiqui talking to a delegation of PSM workers said it is injustice not to pay salaries to the workers for five months. He recalled that the PSM was a huge profitable institute but the past rulers deliberately destroyed it with wrong policies including overstaffing.
He said the government should forget privatization of the PSM and make it again a profitable entity by giving it honest and capable professional management. He assured the workers that the JI would continue to raise voice for their rights.
Separately, a delegation of the residents of slum areas of Gulshan e Iqbal Town called on naib amir JI ASasadullah Bhutto and complained about the police excesses.
The JI warned the police and administration not to create unnecessary problems for the slum dwellers. He said if the police excesses in Gulshan e Iqbal were not stopped the JI would stage a series of protests.
