JI demands mitigating water shortage

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chapter Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has demanding mitigating the persisting water shortage in the city.

Addressing a protest demonstration at Korangi No.6 against non-availability of water and electricity, he asked provincial minister Sharjeel Inam Memon to play his due role in resolving the water crisis or vacate his chair in the larger interest of Karachiites.

A large number of area people including men, women, children and elderly men participated in the protest demonstration and chanted slogans against the Sindh government and administration of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB).

Hafiz Naeem said that the tanker mafia with hidden support of provincial government is creating artificial shortage of water in Karachi. He said that ample supply of water is being supplied to tanker mafia at water hydrants running under the patronization of ruling political parties.

JJ leader held provincial government of Sindh and its former allies responsible for the water crisis and electricity load shedding. He said the JI will continue to serve thje masses without any discrimination.

The K-4 water project is not being implemented yet after passing 10 years. Everyone knows that this proejct was initiated by the then Karachi mayor Niamatullah Khan.”

He alleged that the PPPP and MQM in its tenure recruited their political workers in the government departments of Karachi and the result was destruction of civic agencies and civic facilities.

On the occasion, he regretted problems of citizens due to inefficient NADRA. He warned the authorities of NADRA to take measures to resolve the issues of the masses, otherwise the JI along with the area people would besiege the NADRA Office in Korangi.
