KARACHI: The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chapter organized ‘Namaz-e-Istasqa’ (prayer for rains) at Hub Dam for seeking the blessing of Allah, the Almighty, in shape of rains to mitigate the ongoing water scarcity in the city.
JI Ameer Karachi Chapter Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman led the ‘Namaz-e-Istasqa’ while former City Nazim Niamatullah Khan Advocate offered special prayers.
A large number of people attended the prayer at Hub Dam. Karachi JI General Secretary Abdul Wahab, deputy secretaries Engr Sabir, Rashid Qureshi, Secretary Information Zahid Askari, Ameer JI District Central Munim Zafar Khan and others were present.
Hafiz Naeem said that the water crisis has become deeper with the passage of time; adding that the rulers are responsible for the prevailing water shortage in the city.
He said that there was no such system to distribute the water justly and hence the water shortage may be called artificial.
Hafiz Naeem said that the people have been facing water shortage while uninterrupted water supply is present for tanker mafia at water hydrants.
He regretted that the K-4 project which was initiated to overcome the water shortage in the period of former City Nazim Niamatullah Khan Advocate was not completed yet. However, the project was to be completed in the year 2012 as per its original plan.
Hafiz Naeem demanded the authorities concerned to ensure early completion of the K-4 project; adding that the Jamaat-e-Islami will raise the issues of the people at every platform and will continue its struggle for the rights of the masses.
