KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) candidate on NA-246 Rashid Naseem has said that the city could witness a real change if the authorities managed to hold the by-polls in free and fair manner.
Addressing a press conference near Okhai Memon Masjid in Hussainabad on Monday, Rashid Naseem said Karachiites can see a sea change on April 23 if the by-polls are held in free, transparent and fair manner.
He said that the voters of NA-246 will reject those who have tarnished the image of Karachi. He said that the JI believes in politics of tolerance and service. He said that all political parties should play their due role in order to spread the politics of peace in Karachi.
He said Right now, the constituency of NA-246 depicts a picture of battlefield due to false ego of some elements. He said voters have been reviewing the entire situation seriously, as they want to elect an honest and competent candidate from the constituency.
However, JI Karachi chapter amir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that their party will hold a mammoth public gathering on April 12 (Sunday) at Shahra-e-Pakistan near Ayesha Manzil in connection with the by-polls. JI Pakistan amir Siraj-ul-Haq will address this Jalisa. He said the JI amir will also visit the entire city on April 11 in connection with the ongoing public contact campaign.
He said that the people of Karachi fully know and recognize the welfare services of Jamaat-e-Islami including a network of hospitals, educational centers and water filtration plants in the city. He, however, appealed the people of the constituency to vote for ‘tarazu’ (equilibrium) for a prosperous future of the young generation.
He regretted that the by-polls on NA-246 are also being held on a ‘bogus’ voters’ lists which was prepared for the general elections-2013, despite the fact that the Supreme Court had declared those voters’ lists “null and void”.
