JI takes out ‘Corruption Free Pakistan’ walk

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Secretary General Liaquat Balouch has said that corruption has become the mother of all ills in the country and has even put the sovereignty of the state in jeopardy.

He expressed these views on Sunday while addressing the ‘Corruption Free Pakistan’ Walk, held by JI Karachi. The march was taken out from Islamia College to the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

A large number of people, belonging to all walks of life, participated in the walk.

Speaking on the occasion, Baloch said that corruption is the basic cause of poverty, inflation, unemployment, unrest, and terrorism in the country.

Talking about the Panama leaks, he said that Nawaz Sharif should have disassociate himself from the premiership so as to ensure transparent inquiry. He further said that the proposed commission should be provided with high level powers to investigate the matter.

He demanded of the chief justice of Pakistan to take suo moto notice of the scandal. He said that a retired officer can not ensure transparency in probing a scandal, associated with the family of a sitting prime minister.
