K-E shutdown causes 8m gallon water shortage: KWSB

KARACHI: Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) on Thursday said that the city had to face shortage of eight million gallon water due to electricity shutdown at Gharo pumping station by Karachi Electric.

In a statement issued on Thursday, KWSB Spokesman Nazir Ahmed said that fire erupted in one of the jumpers of K-Electric at Gharo pumping station causing a shutdown for seven hours from 1:00 am on Thursday.

He said that they were unable to provide water to the city due to the shutdown causing problems for the citizens. He also blamed that K-Electric was also not providing uninterrupted electricity supply at one of their major pumping stations, which was causing a shortage of water in the city.
