KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court-I (ATC-I) on Tuesday remanded four accused to police custody till 17 November 2014 in Karachi airport attack case. Four accused, Sarmad Siddiqui, Asif Zaheer, Nadeem alias Burger and Master Esa were produced before ATC-I judge amid tight security.
Investigation officer requested the court to allow further physical remand of the four accused as the police wanted to further investigate them so that the whereabouts of their absconding accomplices could be ascertained and they could be arrested.
Sarmad Siddiqui, Nadeem alias Burger and Asif Zaheer were in police custody from 29 October to 10 November, however, the police produced Master Esa today (Tuesday).
The crime investigation department of police arrested the suspects allegedly belonging to Al Qaeda and the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan on 28 October for providing logistical support, funds and weapons to the attackers, who stormed Karachi airport in June this year.
The main case 87/14 was registered under Sections 302 (premeditated murder), 324 (attempted murder), 353 (criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 427 (mischief casing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), 435 (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to cause damage, etc), 436 (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy house, etc), 109 (abetment) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code and 4/5 of the Explosive Substances Act read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997 at Airport police station.
