Karachi: President Sindh Squash Association (SSA) and Coordinator to Chief Minister, Sindh Haji Muzaffar Ali Shujra has said that Karachi is ready to host the biggest squash exhibition match next month between World number 10 Karim Abdel Gawad and World number 21 Mazen Hesham from Egypt.
President (SSA) said the event is being organized by SSA in a bid to revive the game of squash in Sindh. The match would be played on December 8. He added that the players would arrive on December 6th and a press conference would be held in the evening.
A coaching clinic for Sindh’s players would be organized one day before the match in which the Egyptian players would spend a day with our players to give them coaching tips.
President (SSA) added that the Sindh Government would provide the foreign players full security and would host a dinner for them.
Haji Muzaffar Ali Shujra said his association was hoping to make this event favourable for all of Karachi and SSA.
“We want to revive the sport of squash in Sindh to not only benefit upcoming players but also Pakistan as we all know the law and order situation in Pakistan is unstable and foreigners don’t feel comfortable travelling to our beautiful country,” he said.
President (SSA) said by organizing this event they want to help change this image of Pakistan to the world.
“We would like to start by creating an event that Karachi would be proud to have since the top ranked Egyptian players have agreed to bring their incredible squash talent to Karachi for two days of press conferences, media exposure and an exhibition match open to the whole city,” he added.
President SSA added that both the players want to help create a positive image not only for their sponsors, but for the game of squash and for the city of Karachi.
“We request to the people of Karachi to bring their families and friends on this memorable event and show the world that Karachi is one of the safest cities for any international events,” he stressed.
