Kidnapping for ransom: Accused remanded to AVCC police

KARACHI: Anti-Terrorism Court-II (ATC-II) on Tuesday remanded a suspect to AVCC police custody for a week in kidnapping for ransom case.

Police produced accused, Sardar Abdul Ghafoor, before the ATC-II Judge under tight security. The investigation officer requested the court for more time to conduct further interrogations.

According to prosecution, suspects had demanded Rs30million protection money from the family of hostage and extended them threats of killing in case of non-payment.

The case was registered that the accused had kidnapped Nasir and Amir 2014. The accused, Ghafoor, was arrested during a raid conducted by police in Jacobabad.

A case was registered under Sections 365-A (kidnapping for ransom) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, at the AVCC police station.
