KITC served 400 thalassemia children last year

KARACHI: Chairman, Kashif Iqbal Thalassemia Care Center(KITCC), Muhammad Iqbal on Monday said around 400 thalassemia registered patients have been provided blood transfusion facilities on regular basis in 2014.

Muhammad Iqbal said blood transfusion facilities had been provided to 400 thalassemia suffering children and over 12,000 blood bags transfused to children free of cost in a year. He said KITCC not only providing blood transfusion service to thalassemia suffering children but also providing all other facilities to their parents.

He said Kashif Iqbal Thalassemia Center has started thalassemia screening services in 2011 and over 25,000 patients had been provided testing facilities free of cost. He said a van equipped with thaalssemia testing facilities is facilitating people in various cities of the country.
