KSE 100-index falls by 246 points


KARACHI: The Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) benchmark 100-index closed down by further 246.43 points on Tuesday to 28383.20 points against 28629.63 points on the previous day.

Turnover dropped by 5 million to 134.72 million shares against 182 million shares on Monday. Trading value declined to Rs 5.192 billion against Rs 8.09 billion on the previous day. Market capitalization dropped to Rs 6.80 trillion against Rs 6.86 trillion on Monday.

In total 345 companies took part in trading activities and out of them 86 closed in the green, 238 in the red while 21 remained unchanged. Companies reflecting significant turnover are: Summit Bank, Soneri Bank Ltd, Silk Bank limited, Jah.Sidd. Co, NIB Bank Limited, Lafarge Pak.XD, Askari Bank, Fauji Cement and Adamjee Ins.XD.

Rafhan Maize SPOT reflected highest increase by Rs 185 per share to Rs 484 per share. Bata (Pak) XD share rate increased by Rs 49 to Rs 3444. Wyeth Pak Ltd reflected highest decreased by Rs 100 per share to Rs 4000. Sanofi-Aventis XD share rate decreased by Rs 42.75 to Rs 812.25.

KSE-30 index closed down by 163.31 points or 0.82 percent to 19770.58 points against 19933.89 points on Monday. KSE All Shares-index closed lower by 200.70 points to 21224.84 points against 21425.54 points on prevision day.
