Kumar warns of action against property tax defaulters

KARACHI: Minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Department and Parliamentary Affairs and Food Mukesh Kumar Chawla , while releasing the details of property tax collection from July 2021 to October 2021 in the current financial year, said Sunday that Rs 1059.125 million from Karachi, Rs 39.607 million from Hyderabad and Rs 14.690 million tax from Sukkur in term of Property Tax has been collected. Rs4.069 million was collected from Shaheed Benazirabad while Rs 5.964 million was collected from Larkana and Rs 3.737 million from Mirpurkhas.

In a statement, Chawla instructed the officers that action needed to be taken against property tax defaulters and recovery of property tax should be made possible in all cases. He also requested the property tax defaulters to pay immediate tax to avoid any untoward situation. Computerized challans have been issued to property tax defaulters.

In case of non-receipt of challan contact their respective Excise Office. Chawla warned the property tax defaulters that legal action could be taken against those who did not pay the property tax and in the process the shop or house etc. of those who did not pay the property tax could be sealed.

He said that being law abiding citizens, the property tax defaulters must pay their due taxes on time while instructing the officers in charge of property tax recovery to perform their duties diligently and strict action would be taken accordingly against those officers who showed lethargic attitude in their performance.
