KWSB cuts 950 illegal connections in Shershah

KARACHI: Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) has cut more than 950 illegal connections to several home-made loom factories and houses in Shershah area of the city during three days – Thursday-Friday and Saturday.

The action was taken by KWSB on the directives of Minister for Local Bodies and Information Sharjeel Inam Memon after Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui received several complaints regarding illegal connections in the area. The KWSB along with the support of district administration and police cut the illegal connections taken from a 9-inch water board line.

The KWSB administration had to face resistance from the area residents but with the help of local administration, the KWSB officials successfully carried out the operation and cut more than 950 illegal connections. The elimination of illegal connections had helped KWSB to overcome water shortage at Jinnah Road, Alamgir Road and Mohammadi Road.

KWSB MD Qutubuddin Shaikh had directed officials to ensure that no new illegal connections should be taken after the action and said that strict action should be taken with the help of police force against elements who try to take illegal water connections.
