Karachi: The revenue department of Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KW&SB) has started crackdown on the farm houses, poultry farms and mineral water producers using house connections in commercial use and the people who have taken illegal connections.
It said that water was also being used illegally in the industrial areas of Gadap.
The revenue department KW&SB has started crackdown against defaulters, illegal connections and usage of house connections as commercial use. At some places, water was being used without permission. On the directives of Managing Director KWSB Qutubuddin Shaikh, Deputy Managing Director Revenue Muhammed Aslam Khan, operation has been started on emergency basis against the miscreants.
Deputy directors of revenue department have started actions in this regard in their towns on emergency basis. Connections of 57 mineral water producing factories, 10 poultry farms and seven farm houses had been disconnected. The farm houses comprised farm houses of Iftikhar Ahmed, Sardar Zafar, Ahmedullah, S Iqbal Ahmed, Miss Rifat, S Hasamuddin and Haji Moosa Bisi.
The illegal connections were causing loss of crores of rupees to the water board besides creating water scarcity in several areas of the megalopolis. The circle of the crackdown would be increased phase-wise, sources in the KWSB said.
