KWSB razes five illegal hydrants

KARACHI: Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) on Monday demolished five illegal hydrants in the city in different parts of Baldia Town. Giving briefing to Minister for Information and Local Bodies Sharjeel Inam Memon at his office, Managing Director KWSB and Deputy Managing Director Technical briefed that people involved in stealing water in these areas had built pools at hidden places where they had taken illegal connections from 36 and 48 inch KWSB pipelines.

“Hundreds of gallons of water stolen from these illegal connections is now halted which will be helpful in improving water supply in District West,” they said.

The minister directed KWSB officials to expedite actions against illegal water hydrants, pumping stations, and mineral water plants.

“No hindrance will be tolerated in ending water crisis in the city,” he said adding that illegal connections installed in industrial areas of the city should also be cut immediately.
