KARACHI: Like other parts of the world, labor, politial, social and civil society organisations are set to observe Labor Day in Pakistan on May 1, 2015 with renewed committment to continue efforts for rights of workers.
Labour Day is a public holiday in Pakistan that is marked by rallies, marches, processions, union sessions and street demonstrations. It is sometimes referred to as May Day and is annually held on May 1.
Pakistan is a developing country but the current scenario has improved compared to previous times. However, workers still do not enjoy as many rights as enjoyed by workers in more developed countries of the world.
It has also been declared as the national holiday in almost 80 countries of the world whereas it is being celebrated as an unofficial event in most of the countries.
