MAJU VC stresses need for more research


KARACHI: President, Mohammad Ali Jinnah University (MAJU) Karachi, Prof Dr Abdul Wahab said on Monday that it is the prime responsibility of a university to encourage research activities for overall improvement in education standard in the country, and keeping in view this objective, they have decided to start PhD program and a research journal regularly very soon at MAJU, Karachi campus for which all necessary arrangements have been finalized.

This he announced while addressing an orientation session of the faculty members of MAJU at the start of summer season classes form June 1, 2015. He further announced that in order to promote research activities at MAJU, seven more PhD scholars are being inducted in teaching faculty for Marketing, Human Resources, Mathematics, English, Finance, Sociology and Computer Science Departments. He also congratulated four existing members of MAJU faculty for completing their MS in Finance, Islamic Banking, Human Resources and Marketing.

Dr Wahab urged faculty members to give full attention towards their further study program because presence of more highly qualified teachers is very necessary for a good university. He said: “Unluckily, a very little amount is allocated in our national budget for education sector and our teachers are not taking so much interest in teaching as required.”

He asked not impose their opinion on students forcefully and always try to convince them politely with open discussion. He asked the teachers not to give any harsh reaction on asking irrelevant question or any bad manner from students, tackle this situation sensibly through dialog amicably. “It is our duty to give respect to students instead of humiliating them so that we may provide such competent people to the society who may do something extraordinary while stepping in their practical life.”
