KARACHI: Anti-Terrorism Court-I (ATC-I) on Monday awarded life imprisonment to accused in a case of police constable murder. Baghdadi police had arrested suspect, Shaukat Ali alias Baba, alias Shoki on 11th May 2006.
The accused was found guilty of murder of cop Jhangir, within the remits of Bhagdadi police station on 23rd March 2005.
The judge of ATC-I pronounced the verdict after recording evidence of witnesses and final arguments from both sides during the jail trial.
The accused was awarded life imprisonment in under section 302. The court imposed fine of Rs50000 and in case of default he would have to undergo an additional six-month imprisonment. The court ordered to pay Rd150000 to heirs of victims. The case of default he will undergo an additional six-month imprisonment.
The convict was awarded seven years imprisonment under section 324. The court also imposed fine of Rs10000 in case of default he would have to undergo an additional six-month imprisonment.
The suspect was also awarded 10 years imprisonment in under section 392. The court also imposed fine of Rs10000 in case of default he will to undergo an additional six-month imprisonment.
He was also awarded two years imprisonment in under section 353.
A case No (FIR 76/2005) was registered against the accused under 302 (premeditated murder), 353 (criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty), 324 (attempted murder), 392 and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act at the Baghdadi police station.
