Man gets 24-year-term in two cases

Karachi: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Thursday awarded a collective 24-year-term to convict Waseem Ahmed alias Dada in explosives and illicit weapon possession cases.

ATC judge found Dada guilty of possessing explosive material and a illegal weapon in 2014. The ATC judge pronounced verdict after recording the witnesses’ statements, evidences and hearing arguments from both sides.

According to prosecution, police arrested accused on 2 May 2014 within the limits of frere police station and recovered explosives material and illicit weapon from his possession.

The ATC judge awarded 14-year-imprisonment in explosives case and 10-year with fine of Rs 10,000 in illegal weapon case. The accused will have to undergo an additional one-month-term if he fails to pay the fine. Both the convictions would run concurrently.
