Man gets six-year term in illicit weapon case

KARACHI: An Assistant Session Judge East on Friday awarded six-year imprisonment to accused, Abdullah, in illegal weapons possession case. The accused was found guilty of carrying weapons without license within the limits of Korangi police station in 2013.

An Assistant Session Judge East pronounced the verdict after recording the evidences, statements of witnesses and hearing the arguments from both sides. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000. The convict will have to undergo an additional three-month imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine.

According to the prosecution, the accused was arrested in 2013 within the jurisdiction of Korangi police station. The police claimed to have seized illegal weapons from the accused possession.

The case 168/13 was registered at Korangi police station under section 23IA (illicit weapons possession act) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
