Mass transit facility to make Karachi a modern city: Ibad

Karachi: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has said that with the completion of mass transit projects, Karachi would become a modern urban city and its full economic potential could be used for the betterment of the nation and country.

Presiding over a meeting to review the Bus Rapid Transit System, he said seven corridors have already been identified for mass transit in the Karachi master plan. He said besides the bus rapid transit plans of Orange Line, Yellow Line, Blue Line and Brown Line, the abandoned urban rail transit plan of Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) would also be revived.

The meeting was told that for revival of the KCR the JICA have been told to give timeline frame for this project if they are still interested in the project. Though some Chinese companies are keen to work on the KCR the government wants to work in collaboration with JICA to make the KCR functional again.
