KARACHI:,,, Following the directive of Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhtar Farooqui, the Anti-encroachments Department of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has set up 12 camps in the city where actions will be taken against encroachments and professional beggary.
Farooqui had instructed the anti-encroachments officials to carry on action against the encroachments in the commercial centers of the city, especially in the holy month of Ramazan and remove all roadside push carts and vendors to save the people from any inconvenience due to these encroachments.
The anti-encroachments department responding to this instruction established special camps around the busiest commercial centers in the city to keep watch on the establishment of encroachments around the markets and shopping centers and take immediate action against them.
The camps have been set up in district central at Haideri Market, Sindhi Hotel, Liaquatabad Super Market, Water Pump and Nazimabad Chowrangi. In district South the camps were established at Jama Cloth Market, Saddar, Empress Market and in district East at Tariq Road, PIB Colony, Liaquat Market Malir and Babar Market Landhi.
Meanwhile, Farooqui also directed anti-encroachments department to immediately clear the space beneath and around the city flyovers from baggers. He also directed the officers of district municipal corporations to cooperate with the anti-encroachments department in this connection so that the city could be saved from the curse of beggary during the holy month.
