KARACHI: Two more children died of measles at Village Soneri on Tuesday in district Thatta raising the number of measles victims in the village to seven.
The victims were identified as Gulsher and Sumera. Earlier, five children have already died in this village comprising some 500 houses. There is a building of basic health centre in the area, but it is not functional and its doors and windows are stolen by the thieves; however, its staff gets salaries without performing any duties, which is overall hallmark of basic health in rural Sindh.
The villagers have requested the incharge Sindh health minister to send special medical teams to the village besides making functional their basic health centre.
