Media urged to support govt for curbing terrorism

KARACHI: Sindh Secretary Information Dr Zulfiqar Ali Shalwani has underlined on print and electronic media to refrain from printing, publishing and sending on air such things which might provoke hatred or cause conflicts in different sects to suppress terrorism.

He said this while presiding over a meeting of provincial action plan committee’s subcommittee on media at his office on Thursday formed under the auspices of national action plan.

Secretary said it was the responsibility of all print and electronic media to support the measures taken by the government to curb terrorism in the country.

The participants of the meeting suggested that to create brotherhood, love and affection and awareness among the masses be created against terrorism  through mobile SMS service , cable network and efforts be made in this regard to articles and columns be published in papers against terrorism.

The meeting was attended by Director General PID Ashiq Hussain Sheikh, Sayed Sikandar Ali from PEMRA, Major Waheed Bukhari from ISPR, Ayaz Alam from Home Department, Major Sibtain from Rangers, Director Press Information Mohammad Yousuf Kabooro, Director Electronic Media Pervez Hasnain, Director Media Sindh Police Moiz Peerzada and others.
