Meeting discusses bank security issues


KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said that for the safety of life and property of citizens and sustainability of economy there is a need for taking extraordinary security steps, particularly for security of banks and financial institutions.

He said this while presiding over a meeting overview the security of banks at his office on Tuesday.

Representative of Governor State Bank Amanullah, Kamran Khan, Col (Retd) Tauqir, Col (Retd) Ahtesham, Major (Retd) Munir Ahmed from All Pakistan Security Agencies Association, Representative of I G Sindh, SP City Sheraz Nazir, SP Saddar Syed Suleman and others were present.

Shoaib Siddiqui said that Sindh police had resolved 69 cases out of 121 reported cases related to bank robberies so far.

The meeting suggested that private security companies should contact All Pakistan Private Security Agencies Association for the issuance of arms licenses. It was said that Pakistan Banking Association will also be responsible for the security of banks.
