Meeting discusses M-9 project

KARACHI: Chief Secretary Sindh Mohammad Siddique Memon has asked the Board of Revenue Sindh, Planning & Development Department, Transport Department, Commissioner and Deputy Commissioners of Karachi and Hyderabad, and others institutions to ensure coordinated efforts for completion of the project, entitled “CONVERSION OF THE EXISTING 4 LANE KARACHI HYDERABAD SUPERHIGHWAY INTO 6-LANE MOTORWAY (M-9)”.

The project is to be completed in association with National Highway Authority (NHA), Frontier Works Organization (FWO), and other nation building departments.

He issued these instructions on Thursday on a report of the Additional Chief Secretary Sindh (P&D) Mohammad Waseem, who chaired a meeting to this effect, held in Sindh Secretariat and attended by the senior officers of NHA, FWO, BOR Sindh, Department of Planning & Development , Transport, Finance , KMC, Commissioner & Deputy Commissioners and other officers.

As reported by the ACS (P&D), the meeting resolved that respective deputy commissioner should resolve the issues of Land specifically of private land in the districts of Jamshoro, Malir and Karachi East where the matter of 377 acres land to be decided cumulatively.

Secretary Transport Mohammad Tauha Farooqui briefed in the meeting that the projects of Light Rail Transport (LRT) and Bus Rapid Transport (BRT), whenever completed, would facilitate the commuters of Karachi.

Mohammad Siddique Memon advised the concerned officers to get the issues resolved within two weeks in consultation with relevant nation building department including NHA.
