Minister for improving cargo handling


KARACHI: Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Senator Kamran Michael chaired a high level meeting in his camp office at PNSC Building which was attended by the Federal Secretary Ports and Shipping Khalid Pervez, Director General Ports and Shipping Abdul Malik Ghauri and Chairman PNSC Siddique Memon. The meeting was held to discuss the progress made by PNSC under the present government.

Culminating the figures in respect of the fleet of Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, the Minister commended the efforts of PNSC while pointing out that the PNSC had fleet of 3 Oil Tankers and 6 Bulk Carriers when he took over the Ministry and today PNSC has acquired an Oil Tanker “Shalimar” to make the fleet tally “4” for oil tankers.

This he said is indeed a remarkable performance shown by PNSC as well as the Federal Ministry of Ports and Shipping under the present government, while notifying that when the Ministry was given to him the share price of PNSC was Rs 63 per share and today it stands at Rs 181 per share which indeed a remarkable performance.

With regards to the recent petrol crisis, Michael laid stress on improving cargo handling and capacity building. Later, concluding the proceedings, the minister issued clear instructions to the Chairman PNSC Siddique Memon for handling petroleum imports properly and for bringing in improvements in the shipping services.
