MQM holds demo against George Galloway

KARACHI: Muttaheda Qaumi Movement (MQM) here on Thursday held a protest demonstration outside the Karachi Press Club against British Member of parliament George Galloway, who had claimed that the Scotland Yard was just inches away from arresting MQM chief Altaf Hussain.

Addressing the demo, Rabita Committee Member Farooq Sattar demanded from the UK government to arrest George Galloway for his baseless statements. He said this attempt will be considerd a conspiracy against Pakistan but the Pakistani government is still playing the role of a silent spectator.

He rejected the statement issued by George Galloway about potential arrest of Altaf Hussain and appealed to British High Commission to take immediate action against this statement. He said under a well-planned conspiracy George Galloway was attempting to divide Pakistan and its people.

MQM leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said George Galloway is intervening into Pakistan’s internal affairs and British government should take notice of that. He said everyone knows about George Galloway.

However, Haider Abbas Rizvi, while denouncing the recent statement of the British parliamentarian, saying some ‘George Galloways’ are also here in Pakistan. He said: ‘we were Pakistanis even before the country appeared on the global map’. He said the MQM is the third biggest party of the country.

He said their forefathers sacrificed their lives for the freedom and now the workers of his party are facing such kind of situation.

Qamar Mansoor said the whole world appreciates MQM for bringing development schemes in Karachi. He said they have always obeyed the law and favored the better security of Pakistan.
