KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (DCII) Karachi and Maritime Security Agency (MSA) on Saturday night captured narcotics worth Rs8 million in a joint operation in open sea.
The narcotics were being smuggled to international market in a boat, however, no arrest took place.
Talking to PPI Director DCII Karachi Muhammad Asif Marghoob Siddiqui said that the seized narcotics were 3kg high quality crystal heroin, 3kg heroin powder and more than 40 kg hashish.
He said that MSA ship Nusrat was used for the operation but when it reached near the ferry, its crew boarded another speeding boat and fled to unknown destination. He said that while fleeing, they made holes in the earlier launch but MSA divers recovered narcotics before it sank.
To a question, he said that the seized narcotics worth was Rs8 million in international markets.
