Karachi: The 76th death anniversary of poet-philosopher Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal was observed across the country on Monday. The whole nation remembered the Poet of the East and paid rich tributes to his vision of a separate homeland for the Muslims of Indian subcontinent.
Allama Muhammad Iqbal was born in Sialkot on November 9, 1877 and died on April 21, 1938.
Like other parts of the country, special prayers were offered after Fajr prayers in Karachi for the departed soul. Religious, social and political organizations organized functions, meetings and seminars to pay rich tributes to Dr Iqbal, who mobilized the Muslims of subcontinent through his poetry for an independent Islamic state.
