NED Syndicate poll’s cancellation creates unrest among candidates

KARACHI: NED University of Engineering and Technology’s administration on Wednesday cancelled Syndicate’s election a day before its scheduled time without mentioning any solid reason.

NED’s Registrar Syed Ghazanfar Hussain issued a letter to all relevant departments in which the administration withdrew all office orders sent by it pertaining to Syndicate’s election, said a contestant on anonymity.

The official said that it is injustice with them as all requirements pertaining to the election either its period of withdrawal from the election by candidates or objection by the administration were passed and on the peak time when election was due to be held on Thursday, it was cancelled by the authorities which is injustice with them.

He said that the corrupt elements were behind the cancellation of election, who do not want to see an honest official in university’s upper house, the Syndicate, fearing accountability for their misconducts.
