NFEH unveils 52 organizations winning environment awards
KARACHI:The National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH) has announced the names of 52 organizations and companies, which have own the16th Annual Environment Excellence Awards (AEEA 2019) on basis of their best performance in the fields of environmental protection, conservation, and sustainable socio-economic development.
The successful companies and organizations have been adjudged on basis of their outstanding performance in the arena of environmental protection and related fields during the years 2018-19.
This was announced by NFEH President M. Naeem Qureshi after the final meeting of jury of the awards, held here at a local hotel.
Qureshi said on the occasion that the award had been instituted to properly recognize and promote the organizations which make an outstanding contribution towards the cause of sustainable development and economic growth of the country. These companies have been working tremendously to achieve the cause of economic and social development without harming the environment and natural resources.
Over 78 companies and organizations submitted their nominations for the awards this year. As per procedure of the awards, a two-member jury has finalized the names of following 52 companies for16th AEEA-2019, said the NFEH president.

Limited, Quality Testing Services (Pvt) Limited, Roots School System, Security Papers Limited, Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company, Sui Southern Gas Company Limited, Thal Engineering Limited, The Aga Khan University Hospital, The Searle Company Limited And Uch Power (Pvt.) Limited are the award winner companies.
The jury members are Shamsul Haq Memon, who is Consultant Sindh Coastal Authority, and CEO Environment Management Consultant Nadeem Arif.
On the sidelines of the grand award ceremony at a hotel on 9th July, 2019; a conference on “Environmental Challenges in Context of Climate Change” will also be held. Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shallwani will be the chief guest on the occasion. The event is likely to be attended by provincial minister for Transport, Chief Secretary Sindh, Mayor Karachi, and several other concerned experts of environment.

The NFEH has been organizing AEEA since 2004 with support of Ministry of Environment, national and international organizations working for the cause of environment.
