Paramedics boycott OPD in CHK

Karachi: The paramedical staff of Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) on Wednesday boycotted the Outpatient Departments (OPDs) of the hospital against alleged misbehaviour of senior administrative officials with an employee.

All OPDs services and X-ray Department remained closed due to the protest. A number of patients who reached the hospital from different areas of Karachi and interior Sindh suffered lot as medical services were suspended.

The paramedical staff also staged a protest demonstration and sit-in outside the Medical Superintendent Office against the misbehaviour of senior administrative official with a security guard and allegedly handing him over to police. Later, doctors also joined the protesting paramedics.

President All Sindh People Paramedical Staff Welfare Association Suleman Memon, leader of Sindh Paramedical Staff Ikhlaq Ahmed and President Pakistan Paramedical Staff Karachi Nazeer Abbasi strongly criticized the behaviours of Acting-Medical Superintendent CHK Dr Nafeesa Sohail and Security In-charge Dr Rustam Zaman with the security guard.

They demanded of the Chief Minister Sindh, Provincial Health Minister and Secretary Health Sindh to remove them from their posts.

Acting-Medical Superintendent CHK Dr Nafeesa Sohail, when contacted, said a security guard misbehaved with AMS & Security In-charge Dr Rustam when he inquired guard about his negligence during duty hours. She said it is the reasonability of administration to maintain discipline in the hospital.
