KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said that every kind of flags including of political and religious parties, except national flag, and wall-chalking inscribed on Shahrah-e-Faisal would be removed, while, greenbelts and footpaths would be beautified.
He said this while presiding a second meeting of ‘Sarsabz Karachi-Pur Amn Karachi’ at his office on Saturday. Director Media Local Government Ms Robina Asif, Director General Parks Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Tahir Durrani, Chairman National Environment Forum Naeem Qureshi, Divisional Forest Officer Karachi Niaz Ahmed Khaskheli and other relevant officers were also present on the occasion.
Siddiqui said that under the programme of ‘Sarsabz Karachi-Pur Amn Karachi’ fruitful plants would also be included in the proposed 0.3 million saplings, so that, people could get benefit from fruits as well as shadow. Apart from this flowery and kitchen plants would be planted on different spots.
The meeting took several decisions to make the city greener i.e., the work should be expedited and the plantation campaign by different organizations be reviewed, different steps be taken for beautification on roads, industrial areas be paid attention and get help from the associations of industries, Shahrah-e-Faisal be made beautiful from Air Port to Metropole Hotel, saplings be implanted in the offices of trade association to start the campaign in industrial areas, saplings be planted in unused grounds and parks, a calendar be scheduled for plantation in different organizations and all deputy commissioners be made active for this purpose. Durrani said that all the big parks were being made greener, comfortable and attractive for people.
