KARACHI: The Rangers officials on Friday handed over Pasban e Pakistan secretary General Usman Moazzam to police after the expiry of his 90-day preventive detention in their custody.
The case has been registered against Moazzam at Samanabad police stations under Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997 for harbouring terrorists. The police would produce him before administrative judge of Anti-Terrorism Courts Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto, to get his physical remand for further interrogation.
The Pasban leader was detained by Rangers on 28th August when the paramilitary force told Anti-Terrorism Court that they had credible information about Usman Moazzam’s involvement in offences came within the ambit of 7ATA.
The wife of Usman Moazzam had alleged that her spouse was whisked away by law enforcers in a raid at their residence in Karachi’s Federal-B Area on mid-night of 20th July but they delayed in producing him in court.
